This means dogs can move each ear independently of each other, while humans cannot.<\/p>\n<p>The position of a dog&#8217;s ears are not only used for communication with other dogs and people, but also to pinpoint certain noises in their environment.<\/p>\n<p>A dog may detect noises in a frequency range of 60 &#8211; 45,000 Hz, whereas the range of human hearing is limited to around 20 &#8211; 24,000 Hz.<\/p>\n<p>There is a reason dogs do not enjoy going out in the rain, and it isn&#8217;t just because they may get wet. Water actually amplifies sound, making a rain storm uncomfortable to their hearing.
